The first international standard in the field of smart water, ISO 24591-1, was officially released!

Smart water is an important way to realize intelligent control, data resource, accurate management and intelligent decision-making of water system through the deep integration of new generation information technology and water technology. It is an important way to promote the water industry to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and accelerate the modernization of industry governance system and governance capacity. Global smart water technology and application is still in the growth and exploration stage, the development of smart water standardization system, the development of a series of technical standards, can standardize and lead the smart water technology innovation and industrial upgrading process, accelerate the water industry information, intelligent change, build a modern water system.
Recently, China has made new breakthroughs in the construction of the international standardization platform for smart water and the establishment of relevant international standards. The International Organization for Standardization Smart Water Management Standardization Platform, led by the team of Academician Ren Hongqiang, Dean of the School of Environment of Nanjing University and Dean of Yixing Environmental Protection Research Institute of Nanjing University, was officially approved (ISO/TC 224/WG 15). The first smart water international standard proposal declared, "Smart water management-part 1: general guidelines and governance (ISO 24591-1)(Smart Water Management-Part 1 General Guidelines) was successfully approved and advanced to WD stage at the same time. The standard aims to standardize the general requirements and basic criteria for the architecture design of smart water management system, guide the intelligent development of the global water industry, and make water operation more efficient, management more scientific and service better.
ISO/TC 224 is the authoritative technical committee for international standardization in the field of water management. It has 39 active member states such as France, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and 26 observer member states such as the Netherlands, Italy, and New Zealand, with 10 working groups. ISO/TC 224/WG 15 is the only international standardization platform in the field of smart water, and the platform construction is of great significance to lead the international standardization of smart water.
