The Army Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army is a national key university with a long history and glorious tradition, a key military construction university, the first batch of doctoral degree authorized units in the country, and the first batch of eight-year medical education universities. The predecessor of the university can be traced back to the National Chung Cheng Medical College founded in 1937, the Second Field Army Medical University in 1941 and the Fourth Field Army Medical School in 1946. In 1954, the former Sixth Military Medical University (Nanchang) and the Seventh Military Medical University (Chongqing) merged to form the Seventh Military Medical University, which was renamed the Third Military Medical University in 1975. In 2017, in accordance with the reform plan of the Military Commission and the army reorganization order, based on the Third Military Medical University and Bethune Medical Sergeant School (Shijiazhuang, Hebei), it was included in the Western Theater Army Comprehensive Training Base Military Medical Training Brigade (Hutubi, Xinjiang) and the People's Liberation Army Eighth Hospital (Xigaze, Tibet), and the PLA's 260th Hospital (Shijiazhuang, Hebei) established the Army Military Medical University.
